Let’s start with the definition: epoxy floor coating, otherwise known as resin flooring, is a thick liquid composed of polyamine hardener and epoxy resin, applied in layers, and cured to create smooth, highly durable flooring. In partnership with Elite Crete, Seattle Steamers is pleased to offer high-quality, solids epoxies.

While this liquid-to-solid curing process is commonly used on surfaces like garage floors, epoxy floor coating is an affordable, attractive flooring solution for basements, driveways, or kitchen floors as well. Because of their durable, anti-slip composition, epoxy coatings are a great fit for both commercial and residential spaces. The durability alone can help save thousands of dollars during the lifespan of your building; most epoxy flooring can last upwards of 20 to 25 years.

Before all else, the first step is to make sure that the epoxy floor coating will work with your floor. While most floors work well, there are some surfaces that are less suited for this process. Some floor materials to avoid covering with epoxy include, tile, wood, or even uncoated concrete floors. If you have any questions about if epoxy is a good fit for your floors, give us a call

Our Process for Epoxy Floor Coating Installation

Working with Seattle Steamers as your epoxy floor contractor, the installation process generally takes just one to two days for professional epoxy floor coating installation. We begin by lifting stains, making necessary repairs, and diamond grinding your concrete. This is the part that may take the longest depending on the size and condition of your flooring.

Once the surface is prepped, your epoxy will be installed. Depending on the type of epoxy system you choose, it may take more than one or two days. After coating is complete, your epoxy should be left alone for 24-48 hours before it’s ready for light foot traffic. If installing in a garage, you will need to wait at least 5 days before you drive on your new floor.

There are several different types of epoxy floor coating we offer:

Neat Epoxy

Elite Crete, our supplier and partner, offers the HERMETIC™ Neat Flooring System, a self-leveling, clear or pigmented resin flooring typically used in industrial applications. It’s best suited for floors with medium to high traffic and equipment traffic, including forklifts. This resin flooring provides a durable finish that is also easy to clean and maintain, and it comes in a satin or gloss finish with 20 standard colors to choose from.

Flake Epoxy

The HERMETIC™ Flake Flooring System is a durable, chemical-resistant floor with adjustable levels of texture and color. It achieves this look by using colored vinyl flakes that are embedded in the layers, providing not only an aesthetically pleasing finish but increased slip resistance. Suited for a variety of floors, this epoxy floor coating is recommended for grocery stores, airports, showrooms, retail stores, hospitality areas, garage floors, and more!

This resin flooring is durable, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to maintain. It comes in a satin or gloss finish, and special colors can match the existing or desired design. It’s completely custom and unique!

So, what are the advantages of using epoxy flooring? Well, there are virtually unlimited designs, patterns, and color options for you to choose from — plus, unbeatable durability, especially for high-traffic areas. Resin flooring is highly resistant to a number of contaminates, including chemical spills, and it’s low maintenance with quick installation options, as well as environmentally friendly options as well. With those advantages alone, installing epoxy flooring is really a no brainer.
